Bio
Andrew Schroeder is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans printmaking, photography, performance and installation. Schroeder received a BFA in 2005 from the University of Nebraska and recently completed his MFA at the University of Minnesota in May 2008. Schroeder’s artistic practice continues to evolve through his commitment to investigating the roles art plays when enmeshed in contemporary life. The open attitude towards media embraced by Schroeder often counterbalances theoretical and philosophical issues with the practical visual vehicle of photography.Schroeder is the recipient of a Harold R. Judd Fellowship (2006) for travel to Bulgaria. He has exhibited work regionally and internationally and recently participated in the group exhibition “Why You Belong” at the Burnet Gallery in Minneapolis, MN. He also participated in the group show, “American Prints in Troubled Times”, a traveling exhibition of contemporary American print artists at the American University in Cairo, Egypt. Schroeder has prints in the permanent collections and archives of the Sheldon Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska and also the Spencer Art Museum in Lawrence, Kansas.
