This project is a collaboration with artist Jocelyn Lippincott.

 

The project consists of a series of photogravure portraits made by extracting still images from a dating video that circulated through my hometown -- Kearney, Nebraska.

 

After watching each participant's segment, I looked for the moment when the subjects appeared to reveal themselves to the camera. The particpants search for love creates a group of individuals who must navigate through the impersonal mass-mediated world of video to attempt to find personal satisfaction: love and sex.
