I was once told by a friend that they could easily spot me at a great distance simply from the way I move my feet when I am walking. There’s a great deal of truth to this. We exhibit an unconscious-level form of identity through our habitual, seemingly thoughtless movements. I’ve started making portraits of people I know (and conversely would want to recognize a great distance).
This is a portrait of my friend, Andrea. An accomplished artist and educator. When engaged in the act of recording herself in a photograph, she makes these adjustments to her self, how she stands, etc… and I’ve attempted to use a multi-image stack in Photoshop to record the variety of her movement between frames.
